I run Kubuntu Karmic with Dolphin 4:4.3.4-0ubuntu1~karmic1 and see the
same issue, also when only hovering an .mp4-file to see the quick-infos.
It takes a looong time to until infos are displayed, meanwhile Dolphin
eats lots of RAM.

With the latest package-upgrade (i.e. linux-image 2.6.38-11) for Natty, the
Idle Power consumption reported by powertop on my TP T410 went down *more
than 50%*: From around 25W to below 12W.
It is also much cool and quiet again.

Same for me, something is really broken and dangerous here in Kubuntu.
Some times the tray for the copy-task is done in one second, even when copying
hundreds of megabytes!
I have to check with"watch -n1 sudo iostat -m" when the writing has finished.
