This is a bug with what looks like fglrx and vizualizations.
I marked it as confirmed since I have a similar setup to Emiliano, and
was able to replicate this bug by enabling the fglrx drivers with the
restricted drivers manager.
The problem appears to be with vizualization. If you disable the
confirmed this bug exists with ATI mobility hardware. Also found a
workaround.

I ran into this problem myself. Unfortunately I can't give out the
source, but upon doing research this is also a noted problem with
Ardour.
At this point it seems pretty simple to compile Ardour with gcc-3.3/3.4
and then link using the latest binutils.

Furthermore this thread looks important. Basically 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 is
already broken under kernel 2.6.20. The version in cvs is required now.
So until the new release of lirc is made, lirc_mceusb2 will be broken
for fiesty.
