I still have the same problem, these days with Ubuntu 8.10. I am also
dual booting with Debian Lenny and Hibernate on Debian has always worked
using uswsusp. I used to be able to hibernate using s2disk on Ubuntu,
using the command line but even this does not work these days, the
screen just locks

Firefox. I have an ATI graphics card and am using the ATI drivers. My
problem is exactly the same as decribed above, the CPU overloads
constantly when using Firefox and also causes the fan to kick in. I

I am having the very same problem on an AMD 64 HP Pavilion laptop. It happens
very frequently to the point of not being able to use Firefox at all. Also,
using Firefox arbitrarily causes the CPU to scale to its fullest and this falls
back to normal after I close Firefox. I just installed Iceap

I am now running Gutsy Gibbon 64 bit edition and suspend and hibernate
still do not work on my HP Pavilion laptop. However I was able to make
hibernate work by installing uswsusp and following the instructions to
configure the same. Suspend to RAM still does not work. Hibernate works
