While creating localized Russian distro for distribution inmy native town, I've
implemented the two workarounds:
1. Commented out 'auth' line in /etc/ppp/options
2. Created an empty /etc/resolv.conf file
So far I've encountered no errors or side-effects, everything works
fine, including different

I had the problem with Kubuntu 6.06, now I have migrated to Ubuntu. In
Ubuntu 7.10 the bug doesn't seem to occur.
If there have been no replies for some time, I'd suggest marking the bug
as fixed.

I've the problem with 7.10; I can't test it on Hardy as I don't have a
laser printer at home.
Seems that the issue concerns only wide characters, and it may
appear/disappear as I change font size. The glyphs are present, but they
are not _printed_. Maybe something is wrong with ghostscripting? or
I've located the problem just yesterday. The trouble begins when kontact
sends a message with Cyrillic letters in its name. The whole
MIME-encoded multipart message sent to the recipient contain something
like this:

I'm used to Windows key combinations, so I tried to make my Kubuntu
Dapper LTS switch keyboard layouts with Ctrl+Shift and Alt+Shift.
However Alt+Shift doesn't work, while Ctrl+Shift works OK. Both key
combinations are set in the 'SystemSettings/Regional/L
OK, this is very similar to my own solution; I described it already in
the Launchpad.
Actually I posted many bugs until I realized that the problem was the
same. I marked duplicates and posted my solution in the other entries.

When I attach a file in KMail, it become unreadable. Windows clients
display it as "ATT00", "ATT01", etc. KMail asks to save it to a file,

Actually the very same problem appears with every backend, so it's a

IMHO, the best solution is provided in ARK Linux, however it's also partial as
