Come on guys this is a really obvious security flaw. I get the heebie-
jeebies installing packages when living in an oppressive country. I
understand how package signing works, but this doesn't give me any
reassurance at all because it's only a SINGLE LAYER of security. I have

2000+ bizzarely installed a *-386 kernel. I got annoyed because there
are no virtualization kernel modules for *-386 so I installed generic,

using NSPluginWrapper - perhaps THAT also needs to be "fixed".

I am also getting this error. Although I do not think it's specifically
related to Ubuntu itself, but rather KDE.
I don't see how removing kdelibs5 is a quick fix since some of my
installed applications use/require it to be installed. And if you apt-
get remove it, the apps get removed also.

The server is not running, but the socket will be in TI
You might want to try it from the miro repo, because it worked right of
the bat when I did that. The Ubuntu repo seems to have an error.

I can not access the network (including the Internet) on my Dell XPS 700
desktop while running the latest kernel (as of Nov 11, 2008) in the
proposed updates. I can access the network perfectly with the kernel
included on the Ubuntu 8.10 CD.

Importance
It's interesting that you are seeing different behaviours in Terminator and
GNOME Terminal - we use the exact same vte widget they do.
Could you definitely confirm that the same shell/vim configs work in one and
not in the other? Also are you using screen in either/both? That tends to
confuse sc
This solution works for me too. It's inconvenient, but it's a work
around. killall telepathy-butterfly, then hit "Availble" again

This bug is no longer occuring for me - no crashes for a long time on
8.04 and not had any yet on 8.10 even with dual monitors enabled which
used to cause the crashes to become much more frequent.
