Why? I thought that updating the kernel independently of the rest of the system is the great benefit of linux and now that is not true? Because of virtualization being special? I don't understand. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed t

Thank you! So, will I have to install the 4.8 kernel again after updating virtualbox, or would the kernel already work and this is only required for virtualbox? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net

Oh dear, seems I made it more complicated then necessary :-) I am not using the kernel ppa like a ppa at all. Instead I regularly check http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and if there is a new kernel, I manually remove the old kernel and manually install the new kernel. Newer realized

Well, seems there is no easy way to integrate the mainline kernel ppa into the system, but at least I can use the virtualbox ppa. Btw: what is the difference between your ppa and the oracle repository? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscri

Sorry to bother you again, but is this expected: DKMS: install completed. Job for virtualbox.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status virtualbox.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. invoke-rc.d: initscript virtualbox, action "restart" failed.

[Bug 1567445] Re: ubi-prepare failed with exit code 255

Currently installing 16.04 final and I still got "ubi-prepare failed with exit code 255", so I disabled secure boot. Will I have to reinstall once this gets fixed so I can use secure boot. Or is it really enough to run "sudo mokutil --disable-validation" and then enable secure boot in BIOS ? -- Y
