I think this is enough... Anyway, as stated before, if you want to keep
using 9.04 you can always use a more recent kernel, or, as you said you
came from hardy, the old one that shipped with it, which should be still
selectable in grub.

not only /home partition gets corrupted, but even root. Keeping installing over
and over is quite annoying; I'd try installing kernel 2.6.29 and give it a try.
If the problem persists I'll downgrade to intrepid.

bug is just wrong. Moreover, messages by udev are not the only visible
ones. So this bug isn't either a duplicate.

Same problem on my laptop, it mounts a GeForce 9600M GT. LCD turns off
when I think plymouth should come up. I think xorg doesn't chrash at
all, because if I wait long enough, I can shut it down properly, i.e.
press the shutdown button then enter -> it shuts down.

This is definitely still the case in Karmic. Doing a "pulseaudio -k" still
solves the issue.
I ran "apport-collect -p alsa-base 430030" in Karmic with the card plugged in
and NOT recognized. I'll try with a Lucid daily build ASAP. Thanks for
