I save a configuration and restart the pc. If I change the display
resolution, but don't save it then it doesn't happen (neither
immediately and neither after I restarting the PC). I hope this answers

When using IPv6 with SLAAC you randomly get a new address since you
can't be sure which interface is choosen on boot.
A solution to this problem would be very welcome!

My network configuration looks like this:

The fix posted by Graham works for me. After modifying that line I succesfully
get DHCPv6 after a clean reboot.

Used Control-Alt-F1 to run the do-release-upgrade and left overnight. In
the morning it was stuck on a screen asking if I wanted to keep the old
file or replace with the package managers new version. After the
selection it requested the root password or Control-D to continue.

I wanted to deploy a fairly large (50 servers) IPv6 only setup using
SLAAC but I had to revert to static IPv6 configuration due to this issue

1) I think it is reproducible, because I did twice a fresh Ubuntu 9.04
installation. Onetime with ext4 and with ext3. The problem still exists.
However I haven't try it yet on a other pc/laptop.

Reopening temporarily. This bug was closed out of the blue, without any
explanation. From my own research afterwards, it turns out it needs to

I have installed it, two things happend:
1) Nvidia drivers wouldn't install / run, so I had to use the x.org nv driver
2) after a while the pc froze; don't remember if I used ALT-F1 > sudo reboot,
or did a hard (power button) reset.
