After an update a few months back knetworkmanager stopped being able to
connect to anything. Connecting to wired network is automatic when cable
is plugged in so that works but nothing much happens when I try to do

I saw a lot of fixes listed here but I was just lazy I guess. Here is
what I did.
1. sudo su -

3. for each in `ls *-generic`

Since packages already in /var/cache/apt/archives from failed update.
4. cd /var/opt/cache/arc
On a new install last night on a different machine I did steps 1-3
before running the software updater. It ran with no problems on any of
the installation packages.
Seems like the fix for these packages could be as simple as changing the
pre-install scripts to rename / move the files versus hard

conf, because now, that kernel packages are patched, theres no reason

Right now, its stuck at hal capabilities and the tablets special 1:n
mapping between the kernel device and X device. One device from kernel
end needs to be presented to X as at least styus and eraser + some more
devices depending on what model you have. Hal cant do that. there might

I do not think its a good idea to disable auto-detection. The more
hardware works Out-of-box the better, even if only partially. Just
stylus whenever you plug it in is better than no tablet. I personally
prefer that to having to restart X to get whole tablet. Stylus is enough

I have the same problem. My Logitech QuickCam Express webcam works fine,
unless I plug in my Logitech MX400 mouse. The more I move the mouse, the

apo, yours does indeed seem to be duplicate of mine. And the whole issue
seems to be related to timing. My problems went(sofar) away after I
installed some server software not usually found in a desktop like
php/apahe/postgresql and mysql that made the boot before X longer for

People seem to be marking a lot of unrelated stuff that were filed long
before a broken and quite recent upgrade caused the bug 491483as
duplicates... Not good.

using bionc-s build seems to work - just swap the ppa
/etc/apt/sources.list.d file relase definition from cosmic to bionic.
Any library related crashes you MAY get are probably because of lib

My i7 was perfectly stable with 4.4 kernel, but 4.8 after Yakety update
