I was also unable to change themes, icons, mousepointer etc.
Problem of all that was that in 8.10 i removed ubunu-desktop due to some stupid
dependency issues.
So during dist-upgrade ubuntu-desktop package was not installed, which partly

This issue is *not* fixed in current jaunty.
Deleting files will not freeze your machine at once or so often anymore.
But it still happens once a day approximately 1-3 seconds after the deleting is

changed, upgrade process has to run dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc and set the

accounts thingie the ubuntu online account overview opens and there is
no skype option. So using the gui, there is no way to add a skype

Dont know if that helps:
As far as i recall from when i experienced this bug, installing lightdm-
gtk-greeter triggered an update-alternative when installing, not when
removing tho.
when installing lightdm-gtk-greeter i had to manually edit lightdm.conf to
greater-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter to
@Sebastien its not a different one, its the thing i reported in the
first place just a bit more information.

Keyboard mediacontrol keys no longer work with audacious in 12.04
Seems i have to manually enable "global hotkey" or "gnome-shortcuts" plugin.
This should be enabled by default and most definitely not get disabled during
upgrade.
