Thanks very much for this complete and interesting answer.
I can't easily test this because I first need to upgrade OS X
(fortunately it is still on disk) : the EFI update needs a recent
version… I will update the bug report when done.

Hi,
In xfce4-display-settings window, I tick the box "configure new screens when
they are connected".
When I connect an external screen, no window appears to configure it.
"xfce4-display-settings" or xfce4-display-settings -m" should automatically
appear.

Sorry, after more testing I saw that my explanations are not good. In
fact, I see two different problems (which might go in 2 different bug
reports...) :
If the above box is tick and an external screen connected :
- nothing appears ->
- when you manually open "xfce4-display-settings", it als

Hi,
When I plug an external screen, I launch xfce4-display-settings to

If I click on "mirror screens" (it might not be the exact term, my desktop is

I need to set first "extended desktop"

user in the xfce4-display-settings window by adding something like : "does not
work with all devices".
And the second problem remains :
When you start "xfce4-display-settings -m" via
Hi again,
So, similarly than in my other bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1369698) :
Could it be writen in xfce-display-settings window something like "You might
need to close and re-open this window to refresh connected devices."

Ok, I understand what you mean. If this issue is rare, you are right.
So what do you think :

Ok,
Same as the other bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1369713) : if it
is a rare issue, you are right that we do not need a information message.
But for "the second problem" (dual pop-up) : I might be wrong but is it
difficult to had a test to see if "xf
Same issue here with an OffieJet 5232. Unfortunately running systemctl
