Some news: the same crash has also happened several times while the
Calibre Viewer window was active. So at the moment, Konsole and the
Calibre Viewer, both QT applications, seem to trigger this bug.

I have the same problem: with kernel linux-image-4.8.0-26-generic, the
system randomly freezes completely (black screen, no network) a few time
a day with no apparent correlation to any software activity or cpu heat.
My laptop is an HP ProBook 6550b.
GPU: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrate
FWIW, reverting to the previous kernel linux-image-4.8.0-22-generic
fixes another graphic bug I experienced with LibreOffice on Kubuntu:

The system freeze happens several times a day, usually after using
Konsole for some time.
However it also happened once when Gwenview was active. Those are the
only two KDE Frameworks 5 applications that I use (mostly Konsole), so
it may be related.
