I have the same problem: with kernel linux-image-4.8.0-26-generic, the system randomly freezes completely (black screen, no network) a few time a day with no apparent correlation to any software activity or cpu heat.
My laptop is an HP ProBook 6550b. GPU: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) Driver: i915 Kubuntu 16.10 recently upgraded. The only difference with OP is that it doesn't freeze when I logout. I just reverted to linux-image-4.8.0-22-generic. I'll post here whether it fixes the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1639560 Title: linux-image-4.8.0-26-generic causes complete system freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1639560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
