You're right Martin, the problem comes from the kernel, which goes on
detecting USB connections although my USB device is disconnnected. (and
furthermore, it cannot handle the USB device).

Try to remove the snap package:
snap remove gnome-calculator
And install the deb package:
apt-get install gnome-calculator
I have experimented this on Ubuntu 18.04 and 19.04 and it seem to be really
faster.
I have experienced many speed problems with snap apps. And some was really

Still having that issue with Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS on a ThinkPad T480 and

I'm unable to pin QtCreator to the dash (add to favorites) in Ubuntu 18.04.
This problem is probably caused by the absence of StartupWMClass in the desktop
file, located in
/usr/share/applications
Could be fixed with this patch:
diff -uN old/org.qt-project.qtcreator.desktop

GNOME in all is a downgrade for Unity users, I don't understand why
Ubuntu choose GNOME now, even if X.org is back...
