This is still the case on 11.10 - for some reasons, autofs sometimes
starts before the network connection has been fully established. In
those cases, I can see it complain in syslog about "hostname lookup
failed: Name or service not known", so apparently, it failed to resolve
the host name it's sup
I can confirm this bug for Lubunt 11.10, lxinput 0.3.1-1. I observed the
following behaviour:
- Originally, changing the mouse to "left-handed" with lxinput would not be
remembered between sessions.
- Based on an strace of lxinput, I then created the directory
"~/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu" manua
I have just downloaded and unpacked the netboot.tar.gz for Ubuntu 12.10
(i386) - there is no jme.ko module present in the initrd.gz, just like
for the previous versions. This bug is not fixed.

I can confirm this problem - it is not possible to get the ethernet
interface detected with the netinstall set-up. We have seen this with
both 10.04 and 11.10 as well. I've dug a little deeper and these are my
findings:
- On a fully installed Kubuntu system (non-Shuttle/different NIC), the module
WORKAROUND/POSSIBLE SOLUTION
I have confirmed that the missing "jme.ko" module is indeed the culprit.
I have done the following:
1) Take the original netinstall initrd.gz from a Kubuntu 11.10 i386 alternate
CD and unpack it using the instructions in

I can also confirm the Java problem. We're running Kubuntu 8.04.4 (32bit) on
our workstations and since the Firefox upgrade, Java is no longer working on
any of them (no problems with Flash, though). All machines are installed in the
same way:
firefox 3.6.6+nobinonly
Additional info: Installing the sun-java5-plugin in addition to java6
did not make any difference - still no Java plugin shown in Firefox.

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Over the past two nights, firefox was upgraded from 3.0.x to 3.6.6 on

I can also confirm the work around (and I've added a scriptable
version). I'll be looking forward to the updated package - updating some
40 machines manually with the work around is not fun... :-}
