[Bug 285128] Re: Random hard locks with wireless enabled (iwl3945)

With the backports busted, this, coupled with the bugs in network manager (it has NO concept of having a single disabled device and one wanting to use other deviceseither blacklist or grab the backports to break the driver support so I can at least use a Zydas USB thumb...) this is a serious sh

2008-12-01 Thread Svartalf
If you know what your device is you can always blacklist it so the driver won't load. It's really a half-baked fix, but it works better than nothing. As for the term "kill switch" on an HP Pavilion, they have this nice little physical switch on the front of the laptop that is SUPPOSED to enable/d

I'm able to reproduce the problem as described here. I was trying to use a Zydas USB NIC while trying to qualify the problems with it (I was getting random kernel panics along the known kill-switch issue with the Intel G NICs- killed it doesn't panic...sigh...)- with it killed, NM doesn't seem to

Confirmed. I've pushed quite a few bug-crashes from Xubuntu 12.04 up. Problems are inconsistent- random crashes of this and other apps. Some hang up the machine in a manner that you WON'T be getting bug reports as there's nothing to do but hard-reset the box. This isn't hardware (i.e. RAM, etc..

Epic. Fail. It's still busted as of three weeks now. 32-bit's not the sole answer, there ARE people that need to utilize >4Gb of RAM efficiently, and 64-bits is the only way to DO that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to qt4-x1

This is a bad idea as it's been implemented, guys- there's tons of local installations that use internal DNS (My CenturyLink router or my day- job's setup, for example...) that this flatly breaks out of box. You've got to do a bunch of manual interventions for MANY corporate desktop and home deskt

Most likely filesystem corruption? Not lookinng like it guys. Fresh install. New laptop. Works fine until I try to do a package migration. Canonical...hint from one distribution dev (embedded) to a fellow distribution dev- it does NO good whatsoever to make it "easy to use" and "pretty" if it

Applying a "patch" when it's something that was fixed in a version is stupid unless there's a lot of dependencies. There's a valid complaint there, all things considered. It's one of the big gripes I've got with Ubuntu- might as well not even HAVE LTS versions with the attitude espoused in this b

2012-06-27 Thread Svartalf
As an addendum, I'm finding that while it's building things MOSTLY correctly, it isn't configuring the sandbox correctly with 64-bits. I'm no longer getting segfaults, but it's getting seriously confused and it needs a 32-bit dist set for things. Looks like there's some re-work done because it's

Well, looking at their scripting for sb2, the workaround for the second, related issue is for when you're doing a 64-bit compilation to use a 64-bit dist set and adjust the toolset to have a symlink to the 64-bit ld-linux so file up at the /lib level. At that point it finds the right things and do

Looks like there's several behaviors lurking within the codebase itself. If you have "too old" a dist, it is the source of the issues in question. Need to look into the behavior further, but it looks like it munges the dist's code execution with the host- which wasn't what was expected for sb2-ini
