I have just checked and this installation has been auto-updated to
1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6 of openoffice.org-base and openoffice.org-base-core and
can confirm that this bug is no longer present.
My installation came with the database modules (as Feisty) so I cannot
address whether Hardy handles it the sa

The suggestion is that the /etc/environment file is broken in some way.
This is mine - in what way is this broken?
