I have just checked and this installation has been auto-updated to 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu6 of openoffice.org-base and openoffice.org-base-core and can confirm that this bug is no longer present.
My installation came with the database modules (as Feisty) so I cannot address whether Hardy handles it the same way. If what Carl reports is correct (and I have no reason to doubt him) them I would agree that the dependencies list needs looking at.
