Martin Pitt committed some fix in October 2015, but apparently that did
not solve this bug, or only partly.
What's the correct way to handle this? Reopen this bug or open a new one
referring to this one?
This still happens for me, too (Ubuntu 16.04), and the workaround from
#50 fixes it.

Keyboard Layout "Germany Neo 2": Mod4 does not work if used as
secondary keyboard layout

This bug annoys me, too, and I've seen it in Oneiric (11.10) and Precise
(12.04). I guess it is present in Quantal and Raring, too.
I have configured “German Neo 2” and “German eliminate dead keys”
layouts, and whatever I choose as the secondary layout does not work
correctly. Only the primary lay
The attached screen shot shows quite well what is missing. On the left
you see the actual layout preview, and on the right you see the correct
layout with circles around the items missing on the left.

I can confirm this, although layer 4 is accessible via “Alt Gr”. The
layers 3, 5, and 6 are not accessible via the onscreen keyboard, as
described above.

Public bug reported:
I'm getting notifications that my system and/or the package list is not
up-to-date every few days via the Gnome panel, although I'm running
aptitude regularly to update the package list *and* the system.
After looking around a bit, I guess the culprit is the file

Getting update n
Yes, the binary package network-manager-gnome 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.2 seems
to fix this bug for me.
At least after the first reboot the applet menu is correct, whereas
formerly this bug hit me after (almost?) every reboot.
Thanks!

Personally, I have tried out this new 3.5 kernel from -proposed on

aptitude_0.6.6-1ubuntu1.2_amd64 from precise-proposed fixes this issue
for me.
I checked by trying to install wine. The dependency resolution only
grumbles about one “recommends” which can't be resolved, which is
probably okay. Before it would try to remove (almost?) every package
installed.
