Hi Mitch, Thanks for your quick response. I loaded up alsamixer as described and changed "line" to 100% volume and unmuted. This did not make any difference. (See log below) However next to it was "LineOut" which has no volume control, only mute or unmute. Could this be part of the issue, that th

I have checked under Linux Mint 4.0 Live CD that the sound card still works and was not damaged. The sounds works fine under Linux Mint and alsamixer settings appear to be no different, Line was at 00. There was only one difference in that I was able to raise this volume, but sound still worked wh

Hi Mitch, Yes the bug you mentioned is similar, however does not appear to be the same. I've done a lot of testing to find the best solution for me. Part of the problem finding a solution was that this model of computer electronically switches the audio output between either the Internal Speaker

I should say that I'm quite happy with this quirk fix. That is, by adding "options snd-hda-intel model=will" to "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base.conf". I've not compared the volume controls to previous versions but it appears that all the inputs/outpus are accounted for using this quirk patch. Kind re
