In case anyone is confused when they read the draft.mode work-around in

Hi all,
I can confirm this was present in Intrepid with the 2.6.27-2 Kernel. I
could detect networks with iwlist wlan0 scan, and it appeared to be
connected to the selected AP, but I couldnt DHCP or do anything useful
with the wireless interface.
I wasn't going to debug this for the sake of it,
I tested this earlier, first downloading 2.6.27-2 from the Intrepid APT
sources, then actually upgrading to Intrepid and testing with it. I was
wary doing the latter, since this is my work laptop, but so far, so
good!
Usually in this time frame on battery power, it would have certainly
crashed.
Agree with Chris, I use dm-crypt & LUKS with root on LVM inside the
encrypted partition, and I see this on Intrepid (latest patches) with

Azeureus I believe is just broken in this respect, and as long as it
continuously closes and reopens the same file, there's not much we can
do about it on the Beagle side in terms of re-indexing the file.
I believe the next major version of Beagle (0.3.0) will solve the
problem of excessive memory
BTW, the "foo has recurrences" is output from evolution-sharp; it's not
output from Beagle.

I have still been compiling ALSA drivers by hand, and because of other
critical kernel bugs (ACPI), I can't use Ubuntu kernels newer than
2.6.20-12 on my Mac Pro, so I don't have a way to test. I know ALSA
1.0.14rc3 includes the updated drivers for Mac Pros.

Here are some quick instructions. Start with a system with a recent
kernel and ALSA configured normally (standard Ubuntu installation). At
this point you'll have a GNOME mixer that works but the volume will be
way too low. Then make sure you have the following things installed (I

I share the same concerns as franzb. This bug could affect a large

Tim,
Thanks for the info about the Launchpad builds. Because many people
having these ACPI problems will also be using the proprietary nvidia
modules (most or all Mac Pro users), or other packages tied to the

Just discovered this same thing here when I noticed my knob was working
on my dell keyboard.
Volume is at 100%, if I turn it up it sets the volume to 40%. It goes
down smooth but any up action puts it at 40%. Also when it moves up and
down it turns the bass control up and down.
The card is a SB A
I removed kmilo (the osd) and set the global shortcuts in kmix for the
master. The knob works as expected now so it's whatever kmilo and the
gnome volume thing interact with at the system level I guess since the
original reporter is using gnome (none of that here).

There is an even simpler solution for this problem. Un-patch firefox so
it does what it's suppose to do and allow it to always be able to
download the latest flash plugin and install it. This gives you what
comment 117 talks about and it does work because it has always worked
with firefox until it
This is a problem on hardy currently.

usual background art stretched looks ok.
The issue also seems to be that an extra background is drawn on the
display with the login which is redundant and a waste of resources on
