ATI IGP 340M with Open Source "ati" driver.
compiz --replace output:
/usr/bin/compiz.real: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is not supported by direct
rendering context, trying indirect rendering context instead

One more thing.
I had installed gnome-compiz-manager before.
Could it be in conflict with desktop-effects?
I tried to remove gnome-compiz-manager completely and then I reinstalled
compiz, desktop-effects and metacity (with libraries etc) completely.
No luck.

desktop effects remove top bar on
It's not true. I still have the problem with Totem.
You can resolve it with Nicolò workaround

(on comments above)
but it's a WORKAROUND not a FIX.
No update has been done yet to fix the problem.

A workaround is:
With gnome-compiz-manager installed, open GL Desktop on System->Preferences.
Enable "Enable GL Desktop" and "Show Tray Icon".
This gives you no top bar.
Now close Gnome Compiz Preferences (GL Desktop window), point your mouse on
Tray icon, Right click on it and select Preferences
@Misantrof
Please launch gstreamer-properties command from terminal.
Check on Video Tab if "X window system (No Xv)" is selected under "plugin"
Did you try with compiz too?

Sebastien, I have a question about it.
This Bug was fixed April 20th in gnome-media upstream and in Fedora, few days
after its reporting to them.
Why so much time for Ubuntu to release the patch?
I just want to understand how bug fix process is planned, compared to
others.

Update.
With desktop-effects enabled no more warning appears.
But in Xorg.0.log there are still lots of libGL warnings as I mentioned
in this bug #113082
I don't know if they are related.

I see you closed this Bug because it was rejected by upstream.
Isn't it possible this could be fixed by Ubuntu itself due to the importance of
it in terms of usability?
