I am unsure if it is the same exact issue, but on my Inspiron 6400 it
will hard lock at Loading Hardware Drivers on every other boot. When it
locks up, the power button must be held down to power it off, and when
it is powered up again it will make it past Loading Hardware Drivers.

The Inkscape issue you see there is actually an unrelated inkscape bug.
Adjust the width slider to see if it fixes the problem for you. If it
does not, try deleting your inkscape preferences file. The problem has
since been fixed in Inkscape SVN, so it will not be in 0.47.

My testing...
On Gutsy using stock 8.37 fglrx w/ xserver-xgl and installing xine fresh
from the repo, everything works fine.
One thing I noticed is that with xineinfo it returns:

I can indeed confirm overlay-scrollbar as the culprit. With it
installed, no pressure sensitivity. After uninstalling and restarting
Inkscape, pressure sensitivity worked. After reinstalling and restarting
inkscape, no pressure sensitivity.

Chad: That is incorrect. 0.92 has not been released yet, therefore there
is nothing for Ubuntu to package yet.

Condensed face from the UI. If you have the Text & Font dialog open

I was able to reproduce just now as well. Given the lack of emergency
save, this is a data loss issue. We could get into nitpicking about
"should have saved in svg first", but it's data loss in the end.

directly on canvas and then go and type more text in the text field in
the T&F dialog, if you don't hit apply and hit undo it will delete the
new text in the dialog plus the last letter typed on canvas. So it kind

Same behavior observed as reported by ~suv on Ubuntu 12.10 with r12050 +
the above patch. Another observation, with numlock on, just pressing 5
on the numpad alone will trigger Grayscale mode (no need to hold Ctrl).

@Dorian: Actually right-resizing with them is really easy. They're
designed so you can grab them to resize the right side of the window...
don't worry about grabbing the window itself, grab the overlay scrollbar
and drag it right/left.
