In Nautilus, the Home folder shows up empty. Other folders such as Music
and Pictures show all their contents, but Home doesn't. The status at
the bottom says there are 0 Items. If I list the directories in a
terminal, they are listed correctly.

The behavior started after installing VMWare Server 2.0 beta. However,
yesterday I ran update manager and rebooted (required for SSH bug), and it
appears one of those updates fixed the issue. I had rebooted in the past and
I had the same problem.

Actually in gtreamer-properties I had ALSA selected. I selected pulseaudio
and the problem exists with that also.

I was using totem-gstreamer. I just installed totem-xine and gave that a try
and I have skipping in that app too. Interestingly enough, I was watching
the graphs in System Monitor, and every time the music skips, the scrolling
