I'm a software user, not a software programmer. I don't have the
inclination (nor should I) to discover how the software is constructed
in order to file a bug report. I've file the report. Fix it, don't fix

Don't know if this has been fixed? I have a similar problem using
Lenovo's Trackpoint. The first click doesn't activate the application.
Exactly the same thing with the global menu bar, hovering over the menu
bar doesn't display the menu bar, I need to fart about with the window
