Don't know if this has been fixed? I have a similar problem using Lenovo's Trackpoint. The first click doesn't activate the application. Exactly the same thing with the global menu bar, hovering over the menu bar doesn't display the menu bar, I need to fart about with the window (maximise, un-maximise etc etc) before the menu bar will display.
