Public bug reported:
Problems:
1) usplash does not work (shows blank screen)
2) computer boots very slow, except when pressing ctrl+alt+f1 upon boot
Hardware:
Acer Aspire 1692 laptop with Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz and Ati mobility radeon
x700.
This happens on Gutsy RC; beta and Feisty work fine.

Bug
Every time I boot up with usplash on (at least I think it's on because I
get a blank screen), it takes roughly 2m50s. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 at any
time during boot jumps to text being shown of the boot process, and
letting the booting continue immediately.
