The inability to suspend via Do was recently fixed. I think there will
be an update to the karmic package soon.
The other problem (suspend not working unless you kill Do) is easily
fixed by lowering how many files are watched. Disable that plugin or
limit how many folders are watched, it goes aw

I disagree RAOF. I just ran into this oddity today myself. Installed a
new user for my girlfriend and Do popped up. Surprised me actually.
Here's why *I* think it is a bug. The preferences has a checkbox to
automatically start Do on login. This box is *not* checked by default.
For my girlfrie
I would say its one or the other. So we have to have consensus on what
the desired behavior is. :-)

Try disabling Zoom and see if it is more responsive.

First, I assume youre using the new 0.8.2.1 which fixes this for Karmic.
Second, what you see there is a known NDesk DBus bug. Their bug report
even has a patch that fixes it attached to it, but afaik it was never
put into their trunk and thus not fixed. I personally downloaded their
source, app

I'm pretty sure Do does not pop up a dialog to say invalid drag type.
This must be popping up by Nautilus. If that is the case, then it makes
sense that docky hides as the popup belongs to Nautilus, which overlaps
the dock. Ordinarily the dock can just ignore this desktop window, but
with a popup
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say its probably not our fault.
That is just a standard GTK widget, nothing special there.
I think what youre hitting is some sort of bug in the driver (or
possibly GTK... though my money is on the driver).

No what you have there is a hung instance of GNOME Do. You need to try
and figure out *why* that hung, and report that hang as another bug.
Do is setup to check if its already running and only run 1 instance
already. If the already running instance is froze though that obviously
fails to work.
Crashes in 0.8.2 but in trunk it was just resetting the default theme to
something else.
Either way, fixed in trunk and backported to 0.8.2 by Sandy. Thanks

I temporarily pushed the 'hack' fix that will at least allow the
docklets to use networking if it is available. It also means they will
keep trying to update even if your networking is missing. But I think

As we already stated, this problem can be worked around by decreasing
the nesting depth in the Files&Folders plugin. Then your system will
suspend fine. This is a valid workaround and probably the only thing

I'm having a similar bug with the radeon driver. Randomly (though often
when watching youtube) the screen would just stop updating. I could
move the mouse cursor around and I think it was accepting keyboard input
but nothing on the screen updated. I could ctrl-alt-f1 over and kill
the x session
Ok just experienced the issue again but on 3.2.0-23 kernel. So it isn't
a kernel issue (for me). Though it definitely seems to happen less
often with the older kernel.

FYI I am not on nouveau (or Nvidia). I have an ATI FireGL 5250 and use
radeon.
And for me the system isn't completely frozen, I can CTRL-ALT-F1 over
and see the logs there. Killing the session restarts it and sometimes
works.

I'm on Precise (with -proposed enabled), ATI FireGL 5200 with open
source radeon drivers, single monitor setup. This bug appears for me.
My launcher is set to autohide and I can interact with it via mouse,
making it show/hide. The launcher also updates to show
notifications/progress bars of item
Also note that for me, if I hit super (for dash) it does not display.
But dash does open in the background so that if I then log in it is
already disabled.
If I hold down super, then the shortcut keys help page displays over the
login box. The launcher also overlays the shortcut's onto the items.
Just an FYI, if you accidentally 'show desktop' and lose your windows
just alt-tab to 'show desktop' again. You don't have to visit each
window to bring them back, it acts like a toggle.

The launcher is drawing items incorrectly. The visible items all have a
progress bar shown, though no progress is initiated by those apps. Some
items are pushed 'up' and not visible, though if I move the mouse into

As I stated, I can't even reproduce it on the same system/configuration.
Resetting the configuration and/or other users/systems will clearly not
reproduce it - I run Unity on 2 other machines and have never seen this
bug there.

I believe you should re-read the definition of Launchpad's Status field.
Invalid states it is 'not a bug.' A bug that 'cannot be verified'
(which this is) should be marked Incomplete.

So doing a 'metacity --replace' to unload Unity, and then 'unity
--replace' to start it up again does not fix the situation.
Let me know if there is any debug info I can give (or config files).

I have not rebooted or logged out since the first time this happened. I
was hoping a restart of Unity would fix it. I'll let you know the next
time I log out.

The switcher is highly inconsistent. Sometimes I hit alt-tab and it
does nothing (refocus the active window). Sometimes it will switch
apps. Sometimes it switches windows within the same app. It is almost
so non-deterministic that I can't actually tell what the intended
behavior is.
