I've installed 2.6.27-2-generic and rebooted and it successfully booted.
I'm doing a full upgrade to Intrepid at the moment, hopefully that will
fix all of the oddities going on with my system, but at least I know I
can take the LiveCD and reload the computer from scratch.

I can't see any evidence of the kernel attempting to log at all. I just
did a test where I rebooted into the 20-12 kernel waited a bit after the
hang, and then rebooted back into 20-11, noted the time, and in dmesg,
kern.log, messages, debug, etc. All show the original shutdown and
they show the

2.6.20 with the irqpoll option now works fine on my computer. I
upgraded to Gutsy and 2.6.22-14 has the same problem. irqpoll doesn't
help it.

I have the same computer that erojijii above has, an HP m7170n and I'm
experiencing the same error messages. In my case though, I had originally
installed Dapper and did a dist upgrade to Edgy. I went recently to do a dist
