Moving the .asoundrc file did not solve the problem.
It seems that the automatic attachments of the bug report does not
contain a "dmesg" output
I attached the output of command:
dmesg | grep -i hda >> dmesg.txt
The output file dmesg.txt is attached.
Note the large number of error message
No progress from me. I ask alsa-project team for input/comment. No response
from them.
Anyone installed the latest of the latest of alsa-project??

I agree that this bug is a duplicate of #461078, which I submitted on
the 26th of October.
I installed as suggested by Daniel Chen the linux-backports-modules-
alsa-karmic-generic. Based on the behavior of the software and the
error/messages obtained by the dmesg command, I did not see any
improve
I was able to reconfigure my HP desktop from scratch with 4 concurrent OS after
visiting my hardware supplier|:
Windows Vista on one disk
and different Linux brands on the other disk with:
1) OpenSuse 11.2 with kernel: 2.3.31 and a Gnome like (Xorg ?)
2) Fedora 13 with kernel: 2.6.33.5 (
Recently several people mentioned to stop using Ubuntu 10.04 and start
using other distributions. I mentioned in # 47 and # 71 of this thread
that I plan to do the same. I have now 7 distributions on two machines.
