I have found this on my Xorg.0.log :

It can be temporary resolved by adding this at the end of the kernel
line in /boot/grub/menu.lst
i8042.reset
And then : sudo update-grub
My kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst is like this :

My laptop (Dell D510 with i915 graphic cards) runs with ubuntu edgy eft and
beryl.
Since last kernel update, sys.log, kern.log messages (/var/logs/) are growing
up till no free space disk available. (3 x 3,6 Go by files)
The message written in these files is : i915_emit_cmds
Please fix it for Feisty !

Hello,
i am under the 2.6.31-14 kernel now but i booted by editing the entry in grub
and removing the splash option of the kernel line.
Without removing it, my screen flashed, usplash said me "Failed to set the
resolution AxB." and try to set another resolution.
What's up doc ?
How can i debug it
I have tried this after a boot without 'quiet splash' and logged me in a
console.
sudo usplash -c -v >/tmp/usplash.log 2>&1
The results of /tmp/usplash.log :
usplash: Setting mode 1152x864 failed
usplash: Using mode 1024x768
but usplash show me the ubuntu white logo ...

kernel, usplash, xsplash and also nvidia drivers ... ;)

edit /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and comment the “dns=dnsmasq” line
then do a “sudo service network-manager restart”.

your solution is not a solution for me.
After added the line "options snd-hda-intel model=generic" to the file
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and reboot
no more speakers or microphone working and a lot of window bug report !
The workaround #32 is the solution for me.
