OK, I have upgraded again to jaunty.
X hung because it still used the radeon driver but tried to load some fglrx
extensions.
Forcing it to use fglrx results in error message that states that no supported
devices are found. (X1600 mobility is not that old...)
Running RadeonHD now...

The upgrade tool warned me that fglrx won't be available and after the
installation the xorg.conf was configured to radeon. So I don't think

It's not possible to set a breakpoint in a way that it actually works

I have attached the lspci output.
When I'm at home from work I'll reproduce the xorg.log After I switched

The soundfiles themself are ok, I can play them via the sound configuration
panel. It's just that esd seems to refuse to start.

It first happened when I tried to gather all the files for the cdburner to
create a mp3 CD. It was a real pain because it was not possible to burn the cd

I just tried to install edgy knot 3 on the system above and it still freezey,
when I try to boot from CD.
The boot menu appears, I can select a boot mode (tested normal and safe mode)
and then the kernel gets unpacked and the boot progressbar appears (+ubuntu
logo) and the system freezes.

The kernel stops after he initialized the USB devices. I have disabled
USB in the bios and the edgy Installer is finally working.

Today I discovered the reason for the kernel freeze because the rescue disk
function was more verbose than the installer kernel
I just tried the graphical edgy installer and it didn't detect /dev/hdb!
It's listed in the possible install sources and if you select "use whole disc"
it works, but you can't set the partitions by hand. It only finds hda in this
case. (which is my windows HD ...)

OK, I did as you aseked and enabled debugging for everything.
The first xsession-errors was surprisingly short and contained only gnome
stuff, but the second one shows interesting elements.
It appears that the timeout theory is not bad. Kontact logs that akonadi had 0
agents and after that akonad

I have added the regular kde addressbook resource (with addressbook in
imap folder option) and suddenly my contacts show up and I can see in
akonadi console that the contacts were added.
I don't know why the kolab plugin itself didn't work, but at least I can
work normally now... BTW: I have start

I'm running Ubuntu lucid Beta and I am using Kontact, so virtuoso, strigi etc
has been installed. It makes my system hardly usable because it is a ressource
hog...
I tried to suspend it while I am doing CPU intensive things, but virt
BTW; last week I have removed my .kde dir and all remaining directories
mentioning akonadi in my home dir, deinstalled and purged all KDE
packages and reinstalled the kdepim packages. Still the same problem :-(

Kontact doesn't close when the timeout happens, but the the rest of the
mentioned bug looks exactly like this bug here and our described
behaviour. Or am I missing a point here?

I'm having this problem on my nx9420 too. It was OK with kernel
2.6.32-14-generic and it's flickering massively on kernel 2.6.32-16-generic
My current workaround is to boot the older kernel...

I have just tried the pll workaround and it solves the problem only for the
main monitor. The second monitor is still flickering :-(
Looks like I have to boot the old kernel for a little while longer...
