Exactly the same symptoms here on an Acer Extensa 5220 notebook. G85
printer is attached via USB. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 with
updates. It worked before on Ubuntu 9. Printing on parallel Windows XP
SP3 installtion is working fine. Where can I look at for more debugging
information?
There were no errors in/var/log/cups/error_log but I applied the update as
suggested (ghostscript-packages from proposed repository) and everything is
working fine now.

I'm experiencing something similar, but with a twist.
After few hours to two days of use, my ext4 /home partition becomes
read-only all of a sudden. I usually close my session, unmount home, run
fsck on the partition, and remount. Occasionally it leads to data loss,
depending on what I was doing.
Has anyone tried btnx in Jaunty? It seems that btnx did not work in
Intrepid because Ubuntu packaged a version of xserver that had a bug. I
would suspect Jaunty uses the fixed version.
Also, evdev is better but there is still no user friendly way to
configure mice.

in neither eog nor gthumb (both die with SIGSEGV), apparently because of this

I said back in November, the modified ipw3945.ko module did not help. It
fixed the boot but disabled sound. I vaguely remember that WinXP uses
drivers by the same company for the wifi and sound (don't remember it's

I had same problem with P5B. I tried to install to PATA and SATA disks.
PATA-drives were tested with different jumper settings, cable
select/master/slave. I updated to newest beta bios version 0806 (2006/11/09

Papukaija: Take a look to #38, #77 and #81. Fix has already been
released for a bug related to alsa-utils, but it seems that we deal with
a pulseaudio bug in Karmic affecting to mute sound with Intel HDA.
Try #77. Hope it works.

I followed Uwe's advice and added nomodeset option. Immediately my
screen ceased to flicker. Thanks a lot! I have an old HP Omibook XE3L
laptop.

it tries immediately to connect when I click the connect button in the
Ubuntu One folder in nautilus or "Se connecter" after clicking on the

After upgrading to 9.10 from 9.04 all notifications from notify-osd are
completely illegible.
I tried this with both notification-daemon and notify-osd, the problem
appears in both.
Seems it is a display adapter driver bug? Also Openoffice Impress
