Xsession has the possibility to call the x-session-manager as option,

well, we are upstream for initramfs-tools the newer versions usually are in
ubuntu :)
as far as i can see the debian bug was just closed without any result yet, i'll
ask vagrant if he had any solution to this (probably in a different debian bug
or so sicne they talk abotu moving it to initramfs

want to forcefully make the network card getting a new dhcp ip address,
right click the NM applet, uncheck "enable networking", check it again
and it will scan for an IP.

the fix we use is supposed to add the proper xauth cookie to your
session which seems to work for many other people... are you using gutsy
or hardy ? note that the debian patch you are pointing to all the time
was a known bad quickfix we added, the later patch closing the issue is
used in debian as

there is and has to be no -ac option anywhere in the code anymore, to restate
that again, -ac was removed upstream it is neither in debian code (at least it
shouldnt be, else that would be a security bug agaist debian you should file)
nor in fedora code nor in our code anymore.
