You must restart all applications actively using a font if you upgrade
it in-place. This has to do with the glyph cache (FreeType's?) getting
messed up IIRC.

I noticed this with a different font using the native OpenType/CFF
(.otf) hinter. Is has to do with making the overshoot on top-round
letters (e.g. a, e, o) visible, shifting diacritics upwards by the same
amount as the round top. Note how flat-top letters like i, u, and y
align to each other.

On 14.10, just hit this problem, too. I installed the newest NVIDIA
driver. Everything worked and an update for Xorg came in, now I get the
same error messages and behavior... I hit this some time back when I was
mucking around with graphics drivers if I remember correctly...

I think I found a solution. I'm on 14.10 now and logged into a guest
session and rotated the screen there. No problems there. But rotating in
my user session led to a garbled or black screen. I deleted .config/dbus
and hey, it works now! So maybe some spurious left-over setting.

Alright, I currently have the Spotify web player (uses Flash) open in
Firefox. I listened to some music, pressed pause and suspended. After
resuming and clicking play, nothing happens, progess bar doesn't move,
