Public bug reported:

I recently started listening to local MP3s with Clementine (uses
gstreamer) again a month ago after I upgraded to 13.10. I noticed that
the sound was slightly but noticably distorted in the highs, I can't
remember that from the 13.04 days but I'm not sure retrospectively.
Sound is fine in VLC and custom builds of mpv. Removing the Fluendo
packages for gstreamer solved the problem.
