Absolutely agree. Shotwell becomes virtually unusable if it insists on
cataloguing raw files.
I have to move them out of the directory, run Shotwell, and then move
them back. Highly inconvenient.

some of the settings at random sometimes brings an image into the
preview window but the buttons remain undefined although if you hunt

I have the same laptop, and encounter the same issue on 11.04. I found
that if I disable the FGLRX driver through Additional Drivers I can
suspend/resume reliably. When that driver is enabled it fails every
time. Hibernate always worked. I tried most combinations of settings in

OK, so with 2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu the SATA issue was less
obvious, but it turned out could still manifest under heavy disk access
load. Further I continued experiencing unpredictable lockups/freezes

This bug shows up in Ubuntu 9.04. It seems to only affect my cd writer
drive and not my DVD drive which is read only. The backtrace backs this
up, as a brasero library is involved. I havn't tried a usb stick, but I

I am not sure which effects you are referring to.
One of the first changes that I made after installation ( at the beginning
of this month from a disc supplied by the University of KZN) was to increase
the number of workspaces from two to four. As four is the default number
there would seem to be

Like you I found that this worked in the previous Ubuntu but failed in
8.04
When I reported this as a bug, Chris Cheney replied that it was working in
8.10 so I guess that it is fixed in the latest upgra
to resolve this issue.
