16.04, I started it today (remember, before I did all the stuff you told

I have too many laptops ... sorry, I was mistaken, I have looked on a different
laptop
that runs with 14.04 ... .
So, with respect to your message #79 I got (on the laptop with 16.04):

1. The 'phenomena' described in msg #91 are the same after a second
boot.
2. Three new observations
a) Right after the boot, I started a terminal (no start of firefox). Apart from
'calculator' it is a program that shows its menu without starting firefox.

Same here, I experience exactly the same as described by vexorian
(vexorian) and Hanine HAMZIOUI (hanynowsky) .
Some further comments:
- when executing 'unity' in a terminal, menus become visible. However,
