everything was ok with beta live CD, release live CD and Intrepid fresh
installation.
but after downloading some updates, the problem appeared again!!

I don't think it is a hardware problem because everything works well
under Microsoft Windows.
the problem still exists with ubuntu 8.04 besides that after opening the
screen again it flickers for a while.

ok, it works on gusty beta but not as supposed
assume we start with only laptop LCD working
it should switch between 3 situations
1 - redirect all output to VGA out and switch laptop LCD off (to save battery).
2 - switch both on.
3 - return to original situation (laptop LCD on and VGA out off).
please, Can I see the fix to test it before final release?

during upgrade until finally it asked to restart.

Removing plymouth*.conf rom /etc/init makes kernel 2.6.28 boots but only
in recovery mode. Starting gdm make computer hangs and only hard-reset
