I tried to install Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) on my laptop, a Dell Precision
M20.
I was using a new 250GB drive, with Windows XP already installed.
The installer detected the Windows install and offered to set up
alongside Windows and even import the user settings - very nice touc
I've been able to solve this in Intrepid, though it's not fixed out of
the box.
A fresh install of Intrepid on the C600 fails to detect the screen
resolutions properly, and runs at 800x600. This is filed as bug #284309.
In this state, the suspend problem still exists. After configuring X to
use 10
I no longer use this machine so cannot retest.

No longer seems to be happening with acroread 9.1.0-7jaunty2, and the
same X server version. I am retaining a copy of the older acroread
package so that I can reproduce this. I think a reproducible client-
induced lockup in the Karmic-released X server is a serious bug which
should be investigated,

With AC power connected, I close the lid and the machine suspends. I

think it does only happen when the power has been unplugged whilst
suspended. It also doesn't seem to happen if I just suspend, unplug, and

added the PPA a long while back and forgotten about it. The current
karmic version is okay.

Okay, I think I have this sussed.
The problem appeared in gnome-panel 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu8. As a fix for bug
#385220, 16_compiz_workspace_switcher.patch was modified to disable
wnck_pager_set_show_all() for Compiz. The problem is that the fix
applied this not specifically to Compiz, but to everything

Sorry, I didn't know about the profile cache being in there. Having
already patched alternatives/evince and run /etc/init.d/apparmor reload
to work around the problem, I just reverted the patch before running tar

Even worse - I get the same thing trying to pair a bluetooth GPS. Even
having specifically selected '' in the PIN options, it generates a
six digit PIN and gives me about half a second to type this into the GPS
(er - how?) before failing.

The page renders, but the spinning "busy" cursor is displayed
