I've been able to solve this in Intrepid, though it's not fixed out of
the box.

A fresh install of Intrepid on the C600 fails to detect the screen
resolutions properly, and runs at 800x600. This is filed as bug #284309.
In this state, the suspend problem still exists. After configuring X to
use 1024x768 however, suspend and hibernate work perfectly.

To fix the resolution issue on Intrepid I ran "Xorg -configure" to
generate a new xorg.conf file, and then edited this to add the line
"HorizSync 31.50 - 50.00" to the Monitor section.

Strangely enough, after doing this I can still change the resolution to
800x600 via xrandr and then suspend OK.

The latest comment on bug #284309 suggests that the resolution issue
might have been fixed in Jaunty, which means it's possible everything
might work out of the box now.

I don't have time to try Jaunty on this C600 as it's now in use with the
Intrepid install, but if anyone else has time to give it a go, we may be
able to close this one.
