The only thing which I'm not 100% sure about is the OnlyShowIn change
which I know is fine for GNOME and UME, but I don't know whether cheese
is useful in Xfce and KDE for instance.

the livefs buildds can't run the binaries generated by gcc-4.4 on lpia
at the moment; it seems they are some early opterons.
What we wanted for karmic was to target mostly lpia CPUs in the lpia
toolchain, notably via -Os, but keeping compat with older netbooks such

Actually on second thought the reason it causes a permission denied with
valgrind is probably because valgrind corrects some invalid accesses.
valgrind for strace says:

So I confirmed that karmic's strace doesn't crash anymore; I still
wonder why I get a permission denied when I'm running under valgrind.

The kernel udebs have to list some functional "Provides" in their
control file depending on what they offer.
The qcontrol udeb which is useful for QNAP TS-209 and -409 devices
requires the input-modules provides to be set which means the gpio_keys
module will be present.
So actually gpio_keys is only needed for orion5xx.

the last client disconnect; this is e.g. to avoid starting and stopping
gconfd multiple times during login. In my experience, gconfd alone
doesn't prevent a second login, but please reopen this bug if it is the

The README claims the bitstream isn't final yet; I'm not sure it's a
good idea to include this codec in opal if it has the potential to be
used in ekiga: users from karmic's ekiga calling users of karmic+1's

I straced -f yelp and it would open /usr/share/gnome/help/libs/shipped-
docs last, but commenting out everythingin this file didn't help it get
any further in the strace.

We're mixing jaunty and karmic here; under karmic we now have mono 2.4
which seems to work fine without OABI_COMPAT (as reported by ogra who's
running the vendor's kernel) and f-spot can be launched. Both the
SIGILL and SEGV are gone.
Under jaunty, you confirmed that OABI_COMPAT fixes the SIGILL
I'm marking this bug as invalid as bug #390591 now tracks mono and has
been resolved in karmic. Let me know if you'd still like to track stuff
in this bug and I shall reopen it.
