Sorry as I haven't tried to use the evince sidepane toggle short-cut after
disabling compiz. I've tried it now, there's no problem now & Evince is
working fine with 'F9' for toggling sidepane. You're right, the short-cut
conflicts with Compiz.

undetected, I'm currently on 4.8 RC8 where both work fine (only battery

I'm still having sound issue with Aspire 4930, tried solutions suggested
by @gbhuvanesh and also the 'alsa' patch by David Henningsson, but
cannot get it working. I added following lines at the end of file alsa-
