I'm still having sound issue with Aspire 4930, tried solutions suggested by @gbhuvanesh and also the 'alsa' patch by David Henningsson, but cannot get it working. I added following lines at the end of file alsa- base.conf
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel options snd-hda-intel model=auto still no sound it all.
