I am using kernel 2.6.27-7.12-generic, and the problem still persists.
Exactly the same problem as the bug reporter reported.

Binary package hint: exim4
Exim 4.67-5, as currently present in Gutsy, contains a update-exim4.conf
which has a minor typo. This typo results in the fact that mail for the
'relay-to' domains is denied. I will include a patch to fix this issue.

Public bug reported:
In an attempt to debug a (unrelated!) FDT/kernel issue, I was fdtdump-
ing my device tree. The values in dumped phandle's seemed wrong, and
upon closer inspection, it turned out a bug in util.c, which was fixed
in commit 883238dc508e721db694277c5273a4c3e9a7132f. This bug seems
Problem still exists on 13.10 / amd64. I've dumped /sbin/init with
debugfs, compared it with the one from the package and they are
identical. /sbin/init seems to match 'HOME' and /proc/1/maps does not
match 'init.'

It seems to me that this has something to do with the desktop setup. My
colleagues and I are all using qemu on Precise, but I am the only one
running Unity (and the 3D layer, Compiz?). I will try how things are on
my non-twinview laptop with an almost identical setup.
