Per my updated Lucid, "Shut Down" is appearing in the menu applet, but
the dialog box that appears asking you to confirm your action still uses
"Switch Off" in the window title and the button title.

I think "Power Off" or "Power Down" would be much better descriptions
than "Switch Off". "Turn off" would also work, but it's a bit
colloquial. "Turn Off..." would also be kind of weird without the word
"computer" or some other descriptive noun afterwards. I feel the word
"Power" reminds the use
