I am on Gutsy with a Dell Vostro 1500 and my microphone does not work at
all. The microphone was not actually being detected by ALSA (I couldn't
set it as an input source in gnome-volume-control), but I found this

@Achim Bohnet: I tried suspending to RAM. It goes down but when it comes
back up the screen is all messed up and I have to press the on/off
button to restart it. However, I'm not sure it worked coming back up
from suspend *before* I upgraded alsa-driver.

Me too with a Dell Vostro 1500. I've found a workaround by going to
System > Preferences > Power Management and moving the brightness
slider, which then "resets" the brightness so I can move the slider to
my desired brightness level.

I can't reproduce it every time but it has happened before. Basically I
browse for a bit, open a page with a flash movie in it. When the movie
is loading the entire browser crashes. Again, this only happens
intermittently; I can re-open Firefox, restore the session, and
everything's fine.

I've just marked as a duplicate of #477644. I think this is correct -
certainly the symptoms are the same for both reports.
That bug has a workaround which works for me:
qpdf --decrypt input.pdf output.pdf
Just a hint for anyone trying this out without enabling the whole of
maverick-proposed: Initially I installed the new "evolution" and
"evolution-common" packages, which didn't fix it. I then also upgraded
"libevolution" and "evolution-plugins" and now it works.
