I think I figured out that it's a disk space issue. I am running Ubuntu
from a 1G partition on a thumb drive with an additional 1G partition for
persistence (casper-rw). Suspect I may need to double those partition
sizes to be able to run all the updates and add-ons...

very possibly just a coincidence of timing, but after upgrading to
Jaunty lat week, my laptop's battery life has severely diminished. Used
to get ~2 hours on battery, but now down to 10-20 minutes (usually
operate docked & plugged in, so unfortunately don't know if the batter

It will auto mount usb devices. You need to install usbmount which adds
new rules into udev. Then mount into /media/usb[0-7]. It actually works
pretty good. If you use usb stick, then make sure turn on vfat.

Here's the error I get when I attempt to build it. It seems to not
recognize numpy?
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -d -us -uc -S
dpkg-buildpackage: set CFLAGS to default value: -g -O2
dpkg-buildpackage: set CPPFLAGS to default value:
dpkg-buildpackage: set LDFLAGS to default value: -Wl,-Bsymbolic-
I went to the preferences to check the server, found the default was
checked, and behold it now works! Strange. I did nothing except open the
dialog.

Alright, I managed to properly run debuild -S (I needed python-numpy-
dbg), however, I'm running into dependency error when I try to build it
using pbuilder:
W: /home/joe/.pbuilderrc does not exist
I: using fakeroot in build.

I think the server got changed in some way by the update I got from Ubuntu,
and when I closed the dialog the server was found again.

hardy. How soon will the hardy repository receive the fixed package?
