I use 10.04 on an Acer Aspire 1 netbook and a Lenovo External USB DVD drive.
It all worked well with the previous version of Ubuntu (9.something). The DVD
works perfectly when I inset one from a Linux magazine.
Now I cannot burn CD's now
No Worries I'll have a go. I also have the older 9.xx DVD. and other Ubuntu
derivatives that I 'll try to see which work.

I am not surprised that a bug occurred as I have just replaced my hard disk
with an SSD drive (Scandisk) and upgraded the Ram from 1 to 4GiG. The live was

I got my printer working well on 12.04 a while ago. From memory I
downloaded the driver from the Brother site.
Trying to upgrade/fresh install of 14.04 has been a problem. Have not
been able to install it or go back to 12.04. Keeping me busy.

I did try to add the package and typed in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Which is the
whole program. This was rejected. Because the bug relates to the
installation of the 12.04 and probably the previous version of Ubuntu the

I'm afraid my lack of computing skills has let me down again!
I tried to run 10.10 to see if it cured the problem. I put a Linux Format
magazine DVD in my netbook computer, It has a version of 10.10. I found the ISO
image but do not know what to do next!

I think it is good that Ubuntu is/has developed the use of the system on a usb
stick. I tried it a while ago. I think i did not follow the instruction too
well. It resulted in the computer looking only on the usb for the operating
system and I'd not copied it properly. So when I turned
