Hello all I'm afraid my lack of computing skills has let me down again!
I tried to run 10.10 to see if it cured the problem. I put a Linux Format magazine DVD in my netbook computer, It has a version of 10.10. I found the ISO image but do not know what to do next! I tried closing down to see if it would auto boot. It did and opened the Magazine. but I still did not know how to run it from the DVD. I hope that me at least letting you know of the issue helps. I also saw in the October edition of Linux Format that the problem was vaguely referred to in an article. If there is a simple way to use 10.10 live let me know and I'll try again. If it is hassle don't worry. I'll find a way of ripping CDs on another computer and copying them to the netbook.
